Ahoy there, we are finally underway!! We departed Portland Harbor at 0830 Wed. There are small craft advisory, which could really effect us, but we are going with the northerly winds, and the wave action. It is great. We are making good time, so not sure how far we will go today. The sun is shining, the bow is pointed south, life is good.
Yesterday we went over to the Maine Yacht Center to redeem our Groupon coupons for diesel fuel. We got there, and they told us we couldn’t get into the fuel dock, so they couldn’t accommodate us. So I say, wait a minute!! I’m leaving tomorrow, I’ve got COUPONS !!!!! so we pull up to the face dock, and they were very nice. we filled our tanks from the gerry cans and then filled the gerry cans. Note that their docks are like 900 feet long, and I had all 8 of the gerry cans secured to the boat–very secured……
so off they come, and lucky they had a golf cart, cause they made several trips. this was all in pouring, POURING rain. So after this process was all over, we went into the lounge to dry out our soaked rain gear–again. That was the 2nd time already, and we aren’t even gone…….. so some friends came to visit, deliver our newly repaired outboard, and drink some wine. Life is good again.
A quiet night, and here we are……………..

About Sharon Renk-Greenlaw

Captain Sharon Renk-Greenlaw is the owner of Women Under Sail, a live aboard sailing school for women, in Casco Bay Maine. In our 21st year, Captain Sharon has instructed more than 900 women sailors. I feel very strongly that individuals who make the decision to boat on the oceans, must have at the minimum; a basic understanding of the geography of their sailling grounds, operation and navigation of their vessel, and safety of crew and vessel. Since 1994, Sharon and Her husband Larry have made 4 passages for winter trips from Maine to the Caribbean. We love to sail!!
